EA Road Trip '11

I got that college bug again, and I want to go back! No, not to my old school; that is another bug altogether. This time I want to go to a college in a small town somewhere is United States. It could be Canada, but I know where most universities are. Instead, I would like to go to Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, or visit Lafayette or Bowling Green. Perhaps one of these weekends, I will pick up a rental car, my camera, and go...

Hamilton isn't that far; it's only...five hours... o_O

Things I discovered since Facebook

  1. I go outside
  2. I go places
  3. I want to go on a road trip
  4. I want a new camera
  5. I have lots of books to give away
  6. I have board games I no longer play, because I need people to play with...
  7. I have writer's block
  8. I have nothing to write about
  9. I am drawing a complete _____.
  10. I am bored out of my mind since leaving Facebook.

A Good Idea at the Time

What do you do when you have a day off from work? Make an embarrassing video, post it on YouTube so everyone can laugh at it later? Something like that...

I saw a tribute video to Ric Flair and his Turnbuckle Flip maneuver. I don't have a stage or turnbuckle lying around the house, so I settled for a couch. Now you can't just do a flip because you may get hurt, so I did a couple of handstands to prepare for the actual flip, and then I did a few slow rollovers on the couch.

As I gained confidence, I sped up the delivery with each flip, and within a few minutes I did quite well. What I learned from doing them is not to run with the palm of one hand facing upward and the other towards the ground, because you could turn your wrist and it slows down the flip over the end of the couch. Second, don't do it too often on one couch because your parents, who bought the upholstery, will get angry and change the locks while you are out of the house getting a hot chocolate from Second Cup. Finally, upload everything before you come to your senses the next morning; second thoughts hinder the development of many viral videos, and since it was years since I last made one I made sure to upload it before coming to my senses.

Anyway, here it is...

Closing the book on Facebook

Facebook.

Don't panic; at least not yet. I'm leaving Facebook, and that's all. After a few friends of mine quit the social network a few months ago, I thought about the pros and cons of leaving Facebook as well. Being an annoyance to your profile page and mine versus networking and coordinating events with friends, finding old friends and making new ones versus not getting your work done and scaring people, and so on. As the list grew larger and larger, I had more reasons not to leave Facebook, but that was the problem. I spent lots of time on Facebook, so much time it took up most of my day.

In the end, it was family and friends who made the decision for me, when I could not. I will not embarrass them, as there as too many to mention, but I do not doubt they know who they are. "The wounds from a friend" are scars with a purpose, and I thank God for each of you.

December 25th, 2010 should be a good day to call it quits. I hope my links to my blogs will still be up, and my profile picture will be up in case any future friends want to find my picture afterward and keep me in any email loops for events and such. Speaking of events, Facebook loves telling people about them, so why not make this an event? -_-

A shameless plug, I know, but still it serves a purpose.
