Please Support Brittani!

A few weeks ago, I was checking out YouTube during my lunch break at work, and I stumbled on a collection of movies done by a girl called "BLT". Soon, I realized why Brittani Louise Taylor received so many hits and supporters of her channel, Twitter account, and website. Her super-enthused, bubbly, cupcake-loving personality is a hit among YouTubers, and it wasn't long before I began following a person I once thought to be weirder than me, or wired completely different. Observe o_O

o_O Wow...as you can see, she is VERY upbeat and positive. REALLY positive.

So, why am I talking about on my blog, you ask? Well, I was on YouTube and I discovered Brittani uploaded a video recently. She told her fans she was laying low for awhile because her father had to go to the hospital for cancer treatment. About a year earlier, Brittani told her many fans about her dad and the good news & bad news about his condition. This struck a chord with me as a member of my family had a recent bout with cancer, but we caught it early enough and the member of our family is now cancer free and "living it up". Nevertheless, it was really difficult to watch someone, who I grew to admire in a short space in time for her perkiness and magnetic personality, having a tough time with cancer in her family.

I don't ask a lot of my readers, but I ask you all to check out BLT's website, Twitter page, or even her Facebook page, and let her know we are all thinking and praying for her and her family. She came through for some of us in some small way, and now it's time to get behind her and show our support ^_^

Dear Brittani,
From a fan, I want you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Take all the time you need to be with your family, and know we all support you and love you very much. Thank you for all that you do (BIG HUGS!).

Phil W.
P.S. Do guys write (BIG HUGS)? Oh well, now you have two ^_^

What Makes Me Laugh, Part 3

Although I constructed a blog about football, I didn't write anything for it because if I did I would have no time to do anything else. All in all, former all-pro defensive back and future Hall-of-Famer Deion Sanders, who appears on the NFL Network, made a special appearance to discuss and debate the NFL television show "Top 100 Greatest Players" with host Rich Eisen and football great Rod Woodson.

We're selling FLOWERS now?

It is my latest custom to send messages to people, who I did not see since the start of winter, over the Internet to congratulate them on surviving the snowfall. However, I did come across a website you can check out in case you want to add an extra special, personal message to someone you want to congratulate...or show how you appreciate them.

This is the international website for floral arrangements sold at the neighbourhood florist shop. I live outside Toronto, so the local store for me would be EuroFlowers. You can purchase any arrangement of flowers form their vast assortment of bouquets and boxes of flowers, and ask for same day delivery. Of course, there are THOSE holidays when sending flowers would be a MUST (ie Family Day, Valentine's Day, Sweetest Day!?) so retailers ask you order flowers at least one day in advance. Sorry, procrastinators -_-

Oh, you want to know when SWEETEST DAY is on the calendar? You'll need to wiki that on your own ^_^ Ha HA!

Meh: Happiness for William & Kate, Now Leave Them Alone!

Momzo is excited. I am not, and not just because I'm a guy.

Every television personality, who hosts an irrelevant daily entertainment show, beams with delight over the engagement of the future King of England William to the love of his life, Kate Middleton. Kingship may be well down the road, but marriage is only around the corner, and the parallels to the late Princess of Wales Diana are fast and furious. ET and their clones wish Kate to be next "Diana", but have no intention of honouring her with the title of "Princess of Wales". Maybe my skepticism about the magnitude of the event is due in part of my growing up in the Divorce, Politically Correct, Internet Rumour Mill culture of today?

We learned some much about Kate Middleton already that it is impossible to fall in love with her like we did with the late Diana. I remember how the older generation, who grew up with words like 'responsibility', 'honesty', and 'character', fell in love with Diana for not being the aloof, detached royal we read about in history books and saw at FA Cup Finals. Alone, Diana visited people and places all over the world to draw attention and support worthwhile causes. When her public divorce from Prince Charles became final in the mid 90's, the idea of divorce became part of the everyday culture of 'finding happiness no matter the cost', and that was sad.

ET wants me to believe Kate, or "Kate", will be different. She will restore our hope in humanity again, and bring the royal family through another turbulent generation. She looks like a nice enough person, but like most new royals post-Diana she fits the mold too well (I know, I know: Fergie). Some are too careful she will shake things up like Diana, ET and every gossip mill on the internet and in print wishes she will shake things up, and the rest are reluctant to trust the royal family after recent history because of what happens when a princess shakes things up (Hi Anne Hathaway). I am concerned about how William and Kate will fare as a couple while everyone around them treat them like "Diana's son and Diana's clone".

I wish William and Kate nothing but the best during their many years together; they might make it, too, if we give them their chance to be just that...Mr and Mrs. William...and Kate...Windsor?

(What is William's last name?)

Embedding Video at Midnight

I'm trying to get a handle on this embedding thing. In previous blog posts, I highlight text to take my readers to various videos I find interesting or relevant with the corresponding post. While the links often worked, readers would leave my blog and go to sites like YouTube. I don't mind YouTube, but I don't want to send my readers away prematurely -_-

So, I'm going to try embedding video onto my page and keep my viewership from leaving before the end of my rants.

Well, here it goes...

If you see a video of me imitating one of my favourite wrestlers, then HIP HIP HOORAY! ^_^ Special thanks to you readers, who selected the "relevant" link...you guys are good sports lol ^_^

What Makes Me Laugh, Part 2

Last week, I started chanting while at a Christian youth quiz meet in town during a game, but I couldn't remember where I got it from. All I kept saying was...

"BORK BORK BORK!"

I told my friend Kurtis, and he knew right away where it was from: The Swedish Chef. The Scandinavian Muppet in the chef's hat, thick moustache, and giant nose, who introduced every short cooking stint with a song and the ceremonial tossing of cooking utensils. Pretty much all weekend I looked old Muppets videos on YouTube of the cooking clown, and laughed hysterically.

Keep in mind, he didn't speak a word of Swedish during comic routine, but from his linguistic jibberish you could tell what he was planning on cooking. Whether it was "turtelly soupie" or "Svedish Meatabawls", the food would either get away or explode (Vegetarians FTW).

In today's politically correct everything era of television, I wonder if the Swedish Chef or any non-animal Muppet would make it on television. Would Waldorf and Statler give Jeff Maher a run for his money? What in the world is a Gonzo? As for me, I didn't think Swedes were anything like the Chef; I grew up watching Mats Sundin captain the Toronto Maple Leafs, and he was nothing like the Jim Henson inspired puppet on The Muppet Show.

In the end, the Swedish Chef was part of a kids show I watched when I was a kid. Like LOST or Seinfeld, it gave us laughs, thrills, and spills, and then went off the air. As I got older I learned about the world around me, and I could see things for what they are supposed to be, and learned you can't generalize based on assumptions and whatnot. Swedish Chef was good for a laugh, it brought back memories of a bygone part of my life, but now it's time to move on.
